ABOUT THE PRAGUE Prague – amazing city of mystic places and representative architecture.
Prague - modern metropolis which can offer a lot of cultural events for everyone
Prague – romantic place where many of people back again, again ..... and again.

Located on the river Vltava, with fifteen bridges; where most famous is stone Charles Bridge (completed about 1400) connecting Old Town and Mala Strana.
During the main touristic season there are a lot of tourists walking on ... allover the day; try to visit the bridge early in the morning and you´ll certainly enjoy in wonderful views, mystic quite and look on all statues on the bridge. The most famous statue on the bridge is the one of St. John of Nepomuk – legend says that he was killed - being thrown into the Vltava - by request of the king (Wenceslas IV),because he refused to tell the king about the queen´s confession. One part of the statue is completely polished and shiny of people touching it over the centuries ...we also recommend to touch it: it´s supposed to bring you a good luck.
Prague Castle, established in 9th century and located in top of the hill, is the most popular and visited monument in Prague. It´s symbol of state with many churches, basilicas, towers and gardens. And also Golden Lane with beautiful colorful painted little houses, which in past were housed by alchemists and goldsmiths. In no 22 used to live Franz Kafka.
St Vitus Cathedral is the most impressive monument on the Castle and Prague; mostly gothic style cathedral with impressive front view and many beautiful painted glass windows inside as well as silver Tomb of St. John of Nepomuk. We recommend visit Prague Castle and Cathedral earlier (it´s open from 9am) as well as to visit the bell tower (St Wenceslas Chapel) and walk to the top, around 300 stairs, to see amazing panorama view. Also, don´t miss to find good place to take a view to Castle and Cathedral by night. It takes almost 600 years to build and finish the Cathedral. The Old Town square, heart of Prague from 10th century, is one of the nicest places where tourists can spend long time and rest, enjoying on view to Romanesque and Gothic buildings all around the square.
On The Old Town Square is Old Town Hall with famous Astronomical Clock - Orloj, dating from the end of the 14th century. On the hour, every hour, little doors on the clock are opening and Christ figure is marching out, than figures oh the Twelve Apostles figures are passing one-by-one. There are four animated figures on the Orloj - skeleton figure of Death with bell, Vanity – holding the mirror, Judaism – holding the bag and Turkish – with turban on it´s head. Orloj is supposed to show astronomical dial and represent position of the Sun and Moon in the sky. From the top of the old Town Hall is very nice view of the city. On the Old town Square you can see St. Nicholas´ Church, statue of religious reformer Jan Hus and famous Tyn Cathedral (or Church of Our Lady in front of Tyn) behind which are our apartments. Tyn Cathedral is most impressive Gothic building in Prague.

On your walk in Prague don´t miss to visit isles on the river Vltava and quite parks. Take a walk from Wenceslas Square, Charles Street (Karlova) to Charles Bridge and to the Little Quarter (Mala Strana), Kampa and John Lennon wall. During your walk you can rest and enjoy in many quite or busy cafeterias or bars; shop in many souvenir shops and visit many Galleries and Exhibitions as well as Museums. You will enjoy in connection of history and modern in Prague, where many of people back again, again .... and again and now you will know why. |
